Many managers are now leading their teams remotely. The employees may be spread out at different offices, in different countries or they may work from home. This demands a different leadership - Remote Leadership.

This course helps managers

  • Understand how to change their leadership behavior to remain effective.
  • Plan their leadership activities in a transparent way.
  • Make sure the employees know what to do and have their energy intact.
  • Adapt their leadership to different situations and different employees.

The course contains a number of short videos and presentations, supported by exercises and quizzes that connect the course to the everyday leadership work. The manager will learn to use tools that are immediately useful for any remote leader.

It is a fully asynchronous course and you take it – one activity at a time – when you find the time in your regular workweek.

COURSE CONTENT

This course is based on three modules that discusses important knowledge, models and tools for successful remote leadership.

  1. Remote Leadership
    Remote leadership requires planning and awareness of your own management activities. This module suggests tools that help your employees engage with your leadership and also presents solutions on communication at a distance.
  2. Leading individuals remotely
    Individual employees often need more leadership on remote. At the same time, they need to work independently and find their own drive. This module suggests ways to lead and control remote employees while encouraging independence and motivation.
  3. Leading your team remotely
    Your team, and the colleagues of your employees, becomes even more important when everyone works apart from each other. As a remote leader, you need to promote teamwork and set a structure that everyone can follow. This module presents the models and tools to do that.

The course consists of almost twenty short, focused videos, and fifteen exercises and quizzes. Total expected study time is more than three hours. However, we recommend that you take the course over a few weeks, doing one module per week.

BUT CHANGING A BEHAVIOR MAY TAKE SOME TIME

This is a relatively short course.

We do, however, however, recommend that you absorb content and exercises at a leisurely pace, ideally over a number of workweeks. A calm pace gives you time to both reflection on and apply the new knowledge. This is the key to real learning and long-term change.

The content of the course works on both computers, tablets and smart phones. When working with the course, you need to be connected to the internet.
